Terms and Conditions
1. Terms Updates
- Rentals by CB may update or amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time.
- Any changes take effect from the date they are published on our website.
- It is the customer’s responsibility to review the Terms and Conditions prior to making a booking or purchase.
- The Terms and Conditions in effect at the time of booking apply to that transaction.
2. Payment
- All items are for hire only.
- To secure an item, the full rental cost must be paid at the time of booking.
- Bookings must only be made through the website: https://rentals-bycb.myshopify.com
- Payments are non-refundable except if the item is unavailable on the originally selected date at the time of booking.
- Refunds are not available for:
- Item(s) that do not fit
- Change of mind
- Event cancellation
- Postage/delivery costs
- Incorrect bookings
- Customers are responsible for trying item(s) on at the Rentals by CB store location. If item(s) are rented without trying on and you are dissatisfied upon receiving them, a refund or store credit will not be provided.
- Customers who pick up their items are permitted to swap their item for another available item if they are dissatisfied with the fit or condition and must notify Rentals by CB within 3 hours of receipt of their original item. The customer must return the original item within 4 hours of receipt to be eligible for a swap. If the value of the new item is greater than the value of the original item, the customer is required to pay the difference in cost. If the value of the new item is less than the value of the original item, the customer will not be refunded or credited the difference in cost. This is not available for Local Delivery customers (unless returning the item themselves) or Australia Post customers.
- Store credit may be offered at Rentals by CB’s discretion.
- Store credit is not provided for:

- Change of mind
- Item(s) that do not fit
- Postage/delivery fees
- Incorrect bookings
- In the instance that store credit is provided:
- It is valid for 6 months
- It may only be used for an item at its full rental price and cannot be combined with discounts or promotions
- It cannot be used toward postage or delivery fees
- It is non-transferrable
- Bookings made using store credit cannot be amended or cancelled. Once the credit note is used for a new hire booking, the sale is final, including where the item is not the correct fit.
- The rental cost paid at the time of booking is final. No price adjustments or partial refunds are offered if rental costs change or a sale occurs after booking.
- If any fees (including late fees, cleaning fees, or damage costs) remain unpaid, Rentals by CB may take further action to recover the amount owed, including using debt recovery services.
- By making a booking, the customer authorises Rentals by CB to charge any applicable additional fees to the original payment method if payment is not made within the required timeframe.
3. Pick-Up & Returns
- Pick-up is available from the Canning Vale, WA and Salter Point, WA locations only.
- Failure to collect rentals within the agreed timeframe will result in forfeiture of the booking and no refunds or store credit will be provided.
- If collecting from a locker, once item(s) have been collected, the door must then be closed and locked with the padlock and the code to open the locker not appearing on the padlock. Customers must ensure that padlocks are scrambled after unlocking and collecting their items. Do not leave the opening code visible, as this may result in loss of the padlock. Lockers not left in their original condition and missing padlocks are charged damage/loss fees.
- Lockers left open: $30 fee
- Missing padlocks: $40 fee
- If a customer takes the wrong item(s) when picking up, the rental cost of the incorrectly taken item(s) will also be charged to the customer in addition to their existing rental.
- Item(s) must be returned by 4:00 PM to the allocated return location on the agreed return date unless otherwise stated.
- Item(s) may be returned via Uber courier to the return location at the customer’s expense.
- It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the item(s) are returned to the return location, regardless of any change in circumstances.
- Item(s) not returned within 7 days will be deemed lost/stolen, and the full retail price (RRP) will be charged in addition to the rental cost and applicable late fees.
4. Australia Post Service
- Available Australia-wide. International rentals are not permitted.
- The cost of the Australia Post Service must be paid in addition to the rental cost and must be paid in full.
- Minimum 5 days notice is required for the Australia Post service.
- Items are posted 3–5 business days before the event date, depending on the delivery network.
- Rentals by CB is not responsible for Australia Post delays; no refunds or store credits are provided for postal delays.
- Rentals by CB is not responsible for loss or damage once item(s) are lodged with Australia Post.
- Item(s) must be returned on the return date by 3:00 PM (or 12:00 PM if your return date falls on a Saturday) unless otherwise stated. Late returns incur late fees.
- Items must be posted from an Australia Post office desk with tracking; post boxes are not permitted.
- Item(s) not returned within 7 days will be deemed lost/stolen, and the full retail price (RRP) will be charged in addition to the rental cost and applicable late fees.
- Dissatisfaction upon receipt does not entitle customers to refunds or store credit. Customers are encouraged to try on sizing locally or check brand measurements.
5. Late Fees
- Late fees apply if item(s) are not returned by the agreed return date/time.
- A late fee of $30 per day applies to Standard and Extended rental periods until item(s) are returned.
- A late fee of $50 per day applies to Express rental periods until item(s) are returned.
- If late return affects future hires, the rental cost of those hires will also be charged.
- Item(s) not returned within 7 days will be deemed lost/stolen, and the full retail price (RRP) will be charged in addition to the rental cost and applicable late fees.
- By renting with Rentals by CB you authorise Rentals by CB to charge applicable late fees for late returns to your payment method in addition to the full retail price (RRP) if not returned within 7 days of the return date and any applicable fees for cleaning/damage repairs up to the value of the full retail price (RRP).
6. Rental Periods
- Express rental periods are a maximum of 2 days.
- Standard rental periods are a maximum of 4 days.
- Extended rental periods are a maximum of 7 days
- All rental periods must be agreed upon before the rental period commences and cannot be changed after commencement of the period.
- Examples of rental periods:
- Express 2-day maximum: Saturday to Sunday
- Standard 4-day maximum: Thursday to Sunday
- Extended 7-day maximum: Wednesday to Tuesday
- Requests to extend a rental period or notify of a late return must be made before the rental period begins and applicable fees will apply.
- Notifications received after the rental period has commenced will not be considered valid; applicable late fees will apply.
- Item(s) must not be taken interstate or outside Australia without first informing Rentals By CB and asking permission.
7. Cleaning
- Item(s) must be returned unwashed.
- Do not attempt to clean item(s) yourself.
- Basic hand wash and cleaning are included in the rental cost.
- If item(s) require professional dry cleaning to return to their original condition, additional charges apply and must be paid within 7 days of notification.
- By renting with Rentals by CB you authorise Rentals by CB to charge applicable fees for cleaning and damage repairs up to the value of the full retail price (RRP) of each item to your payment method (in addition to applicable late fees).
8. Damages & Condition of Item(s)

As all garments are rental items, general signs of wear consistent with normal use may be present. This may include minor fabric wear, small pulls, light marks, slight fading, loose threads, signs of previous alterations and repairs or other signs of wear. Any previous alterations are completed to maintain the functionality and wearability of the garment and do not affect the item being fit for its intended purpose.
- By proceeding with a booking, customers acknowledge and accept that rental garments are not brand new and may show minor signs of wear that does not impact the fit, or ability to wear the item.
- Refunds, store credits, or other remedies will not be provided for minor signs of wear that are consistent with the nature of a rental garment. Remedies may be offered where an item has a major fault, is significantly not as described, or is not fit for its intended purpose.
- Item(s) must be returned in the condition they were rented. Payment confirms acceptance of the item(s) condition.
- Customers must take care to:
- Avoid shoulder or crossbody bags rubbing item(s)
- Avoid spraying perfume directly on item(s)
- Avoid jewellery that may snag or damage item(s)
- Wear appropriate undergarments with all item(s)
- Avoid spills, mud, dirt, or rough surfaces that may damage item(s)
- No alterations or modifications are allowed. Damage fees apply for any alterations or modifications.
- If item(s) are damaged:
- Repair costs apply if repairable
- Full retail price (RRP) charged in addition to rental cost if beyond repair
- Payment is due within 7 days of notification
- Notify Rentals by CB within 3 hours of pick-up/receipt of item(s) if there are concerns about damage. Include clear images of the item(s) and the suspected damage.
- Item(s) must be returned within 4 hours of pick-up/receipt to be eligible for store credit or to swap with another available item if dissatisfied with the condition due to major damage. Item(s) must include all original packaging and accessories. For Australia Post customers, item(s) must be returned the same day of receipt. Late returns outside of the 4 hour period from receipt assume customer satisfaction and forfeit store credit eligibility.
- By renting with Rentals by CB you authorise Rentals by CB to charge applicable fees for cleaning and damage repairs up to the value of the full retail price (RRP) of each item to your payment method (in addition to applicable late fees).
9. Accidental Damage Protection
- Our Accidental Damage Protection add-on covers minor accidental damage and professional cleaning up to a value of $100. It’s designed to give you peace of mind for small, everyday mishaps.
- Highly recommended for gowns, maxi dresses and skirts, white items, and higher-value items where extra care is advised.
- If Accidental Damage Protection is not selected when making original payment at checkout, you will be responsible for the full cost of any professional cleaning or repairs where required due to the condition items are returned in (e.g. staining or damage).
- Accidental Damage Protection cannot be purchased once the rental period has commenced.
- Taking out Accidental Damage Protection does not remove your responsibility to use and care for the items appropriately.
- All items must still be treated with reasonable care and returned in good condition.
- Accidental Damage Protection does not cover:
- Lost or stolen items
- Major, excessive, or irreparable damage
- Damage requiring full replacement of the item
- Damage resulting from misuse, negligence, or reckless behaviour
- Use outside of intended purpose or in unsuitable environments
- Late return fees or additional hire charges
- Accidental Damage Protection is non-refundable and non-transferrable. It cannot be applied to more than one item. Accidental Damage Protection must be purchased for each new rental.
- Accidental Damage Protection cannot be applied toward the replacement cost of an item if it is damaged beyond repair. In cases where damage falls outside of this coverage, repair or replacement costs may still be charged.
10. Responsibility
- Responsibility transfers to the customer upon collection, delivery, or confirmed postal delivery. Customers remain fully responsible until item(s) are returned and received by Rentals by CB.
- Item(s) must not be sub-hired, transferred, or worn by third parties without prior approval. The original customer remains fully responsible at all times.
11. Try-Ons
- Try-ons are only available at the Canning Vale, WA store location.
- No home or interstate try-ons are permitted.
- Try-on appointments are subject to availability and must be booked within allocated time slots.
- Maximum appointment duration: 25 minutes.
- Maximum of 2 people per appointment (1 guest only).
- Bags are not permitted in the try-on room.
- Item(s) must remain in pre-appointment condition.
- Customers must arrive with no substances (fake tan, makeup, etc.) that may stain or damage item(s).
- Damages during try-ons are charged to attendees.
- Customers who proceed without a try-on do so at their own discretion; no refunds or store credit are provided if an item does not fit.
- It is the customers responsibility to take care during try-on appointments, as loose racks, shelving, mirrors, and other fixtures may be present in the room. By attending, customers acknowledge they are responsible for taking reasonable care for their own safety. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rentals By CB accepts no responsibility for injury or accidents occurring during appointments.
12. Availability
- Item availability is displayed on the website on each individual item page and is updated daily.
- Availability at the time of booking may differ from the website display.
- If an item is unavailable on the originally selected date, a refund of the rental cost will be issued.
13. Bond
- A refundable bond is required for rentals at the discretion of Rentals by CB.
- An invoice will be sent to eligible rentals prior to receipt of item(s).
- The bond is held to cover any accidental damage, additional cleaning (such as dry cleaning), or other costs if required.
- Only the amount needed to cover these costs will be charged, and any remaining balance of the bond will be refunded. If no issues arise, the bond will be fully refunded at the end of your rental period and once the item(s) are returned.
- A receipt will be provided as proof of the cost of cleaning and repairs.
- If the item(s) are damaged beyond repair, the full retail price (RRP) will be charged to you in addition to the rental cost.
14. Marketing
- A 10% discount code is granted if @rentals.by.cb is tagged within 24 hours of posting.
- Tags added after 24 hours are ineligible.
- Rentals by CB may use images, reviews, or content shared by customers for marketing purposes unless otherwise requested in writing.
15. Identification
- Rentals by CB may request government-issued photo ID as security for bookings and will be stored securely.
- Reasonable attempts will be made to collect this information before hire.
- Failure to provide ID may result in booking cancellation without notice.
16. Right to Refuse Service
- Rentals by CB may refuse or cancel bookings at its discretion, as permitted by law.
- Includes suspected misuse, missing/incorrect information, safety concerns, prior breaches, harassment or abusive behaviour.
- Zero tolerance for harassment, abusive, threatening, or inappropriate behaviour. Bookings may be refused or cancelled immediately.
- Rentals by CB may cease communication and refuse service in such cases.
17. Limitation of Liability
- To the extent permitted by law, Rentals by CB is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including financial loss or emotional distress, arising from the hire of any item, including cancellation, non-delivery, or delays.
18. Acceptance of Terms
- Payment of rental cost or booking a try-on appointment constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and agreement to sign a Rentals Agreement and Terms Acknowledgement Form prior to receipt of paid item(s).
- By renting with Rentals by CB you authorise Rentals by CB to charge applicable fees for late returns, cleaning and damage repairs to your payment method.
- Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits any rights under Australian Consumer Law.
